    Session Expired?

    Can anyone tell me what is the possible cause of not generating SID string in a session. this scenario happened on my website, im using the session to keep track who is online and how many pages are visited. the problem is, if the user is logged in for a long hours the session will be terminated and another session will be created, but the new session doesnt generate the SID string for me to store on my session table with this problem i did something like generating some alternative string from the combination of date and time with date() funtion. But how can i change the status of the previous session? if i did not change the status, it will be forever be active. Please suggest me what to do with this kind of conflict. thank in advanz for the help.

    PHP Code:
    if($_GET["act"] == 'logout') {
    $_SESSION["sid"] = 0;

    or better setcoockie(); for each id!!!
    cheers
