web design directory listings - worth it?

I am considering paying $50 for one year for a bold listing at www.1234-find-web-designers.org.
Does anyone have experience with them? Is it worth it?

Any other web design directories that are worth getting listed in?

I wouldn't pay for a listing, unless that directory is highly ranked in Google.

I was advertising there - no result. But maybe I should try once again. However, I'm not sure advertising in placers where competitors advertise is good. The advantage is that you advertise exactly where people are looking for designers. The drawback is you compete with several hundred other companies.
I've been advertising in Google Adwords, in Overture, in Looksmart, placing banner on other sites - little or no success. All this sucks. I think the best is to advertise where you won't have 20 competitor ads next to yours.

In general - ok, you can try that. If it works for you - pay again. If not - leave them. That site has excellent Google rating, so that's a vote for placing your ad there.

If you decide to advertise anyway, can you please, send me e personal message if that had helped or not?

I've had a free listing on http://www.firmlist.com/ for a number of years now and occasionally see visitors from the site, but I don't think i've received any business from my listing there.

If you're going to spend money on anything, spend it in a publication that goes out to your target market so you're more likely to get good leads from it.

I am not really looking to just get links. Well, I do but that is not what my question was really about. Besides PPC and Freelance websites, I am looking for additional ways to expose my design services online. So I guess a web design directory is not the answer.... I will keep looking. I think the best thing would be to partner up with someone ina related field, such as a web host....anyone interested....PM me

No, I don't want that. It is easy enough to translate my website but that means I have to be able to communicate with my customers in those languages too and I can't.
I already bid on projects on several freelance websites.

There are too many web directories where the only visitors are people who want to get their links added. Must be great business.

I really am not talking about regular directories here. I know enough about those, just like link exchanges etc. I am talking about specific web design directories such as www.1234-find-web-designers.org
