    3-D Menu Effect Using CSS???

I am using a simple list to display a vertical menu. You can see it here:

I am trying to get the menu to have a 3-D effect when you hover over the buttons, similar to the way comcast does it:

    http://www.comcast.net/comcast.html

I like the way they do it with just one color buttons. I have two colors for now. I was messing with the borders on hover, but I can't seem to get the pop that the comcast menu has.

Also, the fact that I am switching colors may limit the "pop". Ultimately I may use the scanline background for the menus if I can get the borders to create the proper effect.

Any thoughts, is it basically a border issue?

    Thanks....Mike

You do realise comcast.net uses flash for those buttons?

Yeah, they use flash for a bunch of stuff, I was just wondering if a similar look could be achieved with CSS.

    Thanks...Mike

    Sure can.

On hover put border-top: 2px; and either make the remove a bit of height from the link so you don't get a jump happening.

Thanks, that helped. I think i just need to do a little more tweaking with the original border colors as well. Maybe remove the padding between the list items as well. Right now if I have a top and bottom border it effectively creates a 2 px border between the list items.

    Thanks for your help.
