    must a php script like chat be uploaded in the cgi-bin or not ?,
    the installation file doesn't tell me!

    No - PHP files do not need to go in the cgi-bin at all.

    It seems to me like you've asked this sort of question in other threads.

    But anyway, I suggest you read Kev's tutorial on installing php/mysql. It's on the sitepoint.com site.

    PHP has nothing to do with cgi (except if it is installed as a cgi-module, which is a horse of a totally different colour...).
