    Hi,

Wow that movie is amazing. It certainly amused me, I have watched it twice already. Maybee you should add an experimental section with more stuff like that one it?

The only suggestion I have is a minor consideration.

On your "timeline" there is a part where you talk about doing help desk for MS, You also say "i hated that job" IMO, if this were a site for potential employers you may want to consider not bashing other companies.

Other than that it is a great site, I think the bubbles are a fun touch!

It is a very cool site. Nothing really jumps out as "bad." I like the portfolio page a lot.

thats your opinion. i got done looking at it on my home computer at 56k and the load times are short, but still about 3-4 times what they usually are for a html page. more than likely i would stick around your site, because its really cool, and its a special subject, but for a commercial site or content site, where i'm loading a lot of different pages, i would leave quickly.

Your site looks real good... but I would address a few issues.

    1) Music seems to take a very long time. Might want to check on the streaming and compression size.
    2) The site does take a while to load between each scene.
    3) The bugs are cute but the sound they make is strange. Just my opinion.
    4) The Power Ranger Vs whatever the name is funny keep that. LOL
    5) Other than that the site looks good.

That was a very slow dl over my cable connection (in Australia). Where is the site being hosted?

I'm sure you will find ways to tidy up the design over time. The space invaders thingy was cute for the first 2 or 3 seconds - but that went on for ages as it worked its way down the screen - or was that because of the slow dl rate ???

thanks again for the replies and comments,

About the music...I already thought of adding a real small soundloop (for modem users), but most of the time they're just plain boring, looping 5 seconds of music over and over. That's why I chose make them bigger (and warn the user about the filesize).

The hosting is bad, it's an old COBALT webserver on a 128 kbit line. That should change around the end of May (10Mbit burstable...woohoo).

The fact that the site is made in Flash 4 has one big disadvantage: I cannot use shared libraries. When the menu topics are clicked, additional SWF's are loaded. They share a lot of symbols (e.g. font information (+- 25k per font)), but in Flash 4 those cannot be shared. I think that if I had made the site in Flash5, I could at least share about 70% of the symbols used in the different 'scenes'. Too bad the internet community isn't ready for Flash 5 yet (and won't be for almost another year I guess) .

freakysid, could you tell me how long the space invaders animation takes approximately? and what kind of computer you're on (CPU). The movie is at 30fps and the animation shouldn't take much longer than about 3 secs...were you running a lot of other apps when testing? Other people have the same impression?

Oh well - the internet must have been slow that day - my ISP said something about it being the hampsters rostered day off or something.

Anyway, I just cleared my cache and it loaded nice and fast - the space invader dude takes about six seconds to traverse the screen. Yeah - maybe my system's memory was maxed out - I'm was using IE5.5 on a Mac 9600/300 OS8.6 96MB RAM. I have just taken a stick of RAM out too - it was causing problems

Took 4-5 seconds on DSL in Pennsylvania, USA to load the intro (from first opening site link to after "loading" message).

one slight layout problem (not mentioned yet i don't think):

in portfolio section, the right-hand column once the items are on rollover - some of the text goes over (under) the edge...

i didn't notice the sound at all, but thats one of the things you get used to when you're deaf

and the slider bar for the timeline - not too visible. use the white and red to say 'drag me' or something.

otherwise i like it - not too slow to load and stylish graphics.

    Looks good

Everything on the site looks good. Just a couple things to point out...

After clicking on J.Lo (nice choice, btw) it seems that i can still see the title tracks on the screen. They arent as prominent as before i click, but they are there. Maybe it's just my computer, if anyone else can verify...

Many sites out there are just click-click-click-"got the information i need"-click. But your site actually kept me there for a while playing. I liked that a lot.

The only thing i could possibly find fault with is in your portfolio section. the links off of http://www.flux-design.com/cgnu/homepage.htm do not work.

Your portfolio looks awesome, I especially like the work on http://www.c4u.net/home.htm.

Everythings showing up for me so i guess things posted in earlier posts were fixed. Nice graphics and flash work. I don't like the background image that appears in the back though. Otherwise nice timeline you have implemented and it looks like professional work in my opininon.

    Very Nice site

    Excellent!

    Nice, nice site!

May I ask how you developed the site? Now I realize you used Flash but how do you make such great animation? Example: 3D loading image. Did you make that in Flash solely or did you use some type of Flash effect program?

    Insite please.

    Cool!

    Neat site!

The splash page loads very quickly. Your site is one of the few Flash sites (that I've seen) that uses Flash for a good reason. In this case, Flash is a great way of presenting what home-automations can do, yet, in a fun and interactive way. I like the zoom in feature. I've seen a lot of Flash sites that take ages to load, yours is an exception. Your site is simplistic and very easy-to-read. The design (IMHO) is the best you can have for what your site is about.
