    Why won't this WORK! Unwanted height between 2 floats.

    This is a very common problem I imagine, and I've read the tips thread and i still wasn't able to fix it:

    I have 2 floats, one on top of the other. In FF there is no space inbetween them (which is correct), in IE there is about a 10px space between them which is incorrect. Here is the css:

    #numbers {
    float: left;
    height: 34px;
    width: 247px;
    background-image: url(/digital.php);
    margin: 0px;
    padding: 0px;
    display: inline;
    }
    #line1 {
    clear:both;
    width: 247px;
    height: 1px;
    border-bottom: 1px solid #383838;
    margin: 0px;
    padding: 0px;
    }

    #line1 simply serves as a line break..if i try to put "display: inline;" it won't show. so i imagine that could be the problem.

    help? (I don't want that space there, I want IE to look like it does on FF)

    On which HTML elements are you using these css identifiers? It could work completely different in DIV, SPAN and TABLE elements.

    Perhaps you could paste the source of your page here, or alternatively point me to a URL?
