Google is definately the best, i was put onto it by www.c4.com, as it always had the most relevent pages. I think that the fact that google is now used to run Yahoo speaks for its self. The people at google also have a great sense of humor, where else does the logo change for valentines day, christmas, new year, april fools day, hallowe'en, etc. And who else advertised a mind powered search engine for an april fool. They get my vote hands down.

I agree, I use Yahoo just because it uses google's indexes
otherwise, Yahoo's directory isn't helpful at all, that's my personal experience.

If ever I need any technical info, for example http 1.1 specifications, I search for it on Google. I don't like the way it has so few results per page, but it might be configurable (with a cookie, etc).

I usually use metacrawler.com - it is relatively good. I don't like their front page, but I use my own form. I like their results.

MMJ-use 'preferences' on the Google page - you can get up to 100 results per page.

Thanks Gardener. Maybe I will switch to google for all my searches.

I like to have 50 posts per page in sitepointforums. Even when I was using a modem, it's much easier just to scroll than to load up a new page.

I'll agree with you there. I'd also like a printout every week of the top ten? fifty? threads in each sub-forum because it would be SOOO much quicker than sitting in front of a computer plodding from A to B at snail's pace with a modem....but I don't think that'll ever happen.....
