are you implying geeks can hold real-life conversations? any communication not involving a keyboard/keypad should be banned!!!

hey some guy went up to me and saw my shirt "LINUXUNIL" (mirrored) and he's like "I don't get it"...

The only geeky shirt I own is a [free] paypal one, I don't wear it though.

I do want, and would wear a firefox shirt however.

Where can I get a free Paypal shirt? I want a FireFox one, I don't care about the paypal one... but I'm not buying right now :P.

Edit: We should designate a 'wear your geeky shirts' day... Tomorrow sounds good (10/28/04).

Also, it's kind of weird for me to wear a shirt like this, none of my friends are geeks. Well, the one guy knew what Linux is, but I'm not sure of his knowlege of it.

Get the navy blue one. It's stunningly beautiful. And you'll look like a lo0ol.

With me, it's not so much "God I'm a geek!" but more "God I'm old!"

I see so many youngsters (read: teens & early 20's) around here with more talent in their little fingers than I have in my entire being and it dawns on me that, when I was that age, computers in the home barely existed and 'the web' was that little thing stuck in the corner of the ceiling with a spider in it!

Hey, if anyone stumbles upon long-sleeved shirts and such with Firefox or some mention of Linux/root on them, let me know .

I'm tempted to get one from the Firefox store, but they only have short sleeved shirts .

Wearing my Got root? shirt today .

I never did identify with the geek culture, but I do like computers. I think they are an amazing tool. Geeks are cool though because they are the few people with hobbies other than drinking.

They're usually stupidly inconsistant. I'm an average height dude that's kinda skinny-like. Large works for me.

The iPod is way too mainstream to get classified as geek behavior and Firefox is getting there. Also, Firefox doesn't have the lay-person unfriendliness that brands linux as geeky.

In short, if you want to be branded a geek, you are going to have to do better. I think a podcast should do it, but if you want to be on the safe side, make it a podcast about podcasting.

I find that people are rarely as dumb or as smart as they seem.

In other words, I think you are wrong and the kids have nothing on you. :-)

Yeah Firefox is getting there, but still, wearing a web browser t-shirt is pretty freakin geeky. Even if it was IE, I'd still say it was pretty geeky.
I mean, that shirt is to lo0ol what an authentic Led Zeppelin concert t-shirt from their 1973 Madison Square Garden performance is to a pot head.

Something you sell to collectors for pot money? I don't think I understand the analogy.

I try to hide my inner-geek most of the time, though sometimes it comes out.

oh ok... i don't think i'm geeked up enough yet.... just started programming, and more or less so because the company i got work experience with asked me to build an intranet for them. it's a fair steep learning curve....

Actually, I've been wondering for a while what a geek is. I once thought it was some odd combination of traits that one wouldn't easily accept as proper or mainstream, but my understanding of geeks is a bit different.

Geeks, to me at least, are fascinated by truth and power, and the struggle and temptation between the two.

Perhaps I should post this in a different thread...
