Is there a way to do this? Ie: Once an email has been delivered, is there a way to receive a message telling me it has been opened by the recipient? Thanks.

Nope - and any such thing would be a huge security risk - as opening an email would execute a program - anything that executes a program can be exploited - which is why microsoft is stupid for allowing vb macros in outlook.

Actually, there is. In Outlook 2000 at least, you can request a "read receipt". This notifies you via e-mail message when the person reads the message. You can request one by going to File > Properties when creating a new message.

Keep in mind that the recipient can choose to not send a return notification with the Outlook 2000 option.

and keep in mind that that'll only work if the recipient is using that email program.

You can do it for aol users to if you're sending to another aol user - but thats all proprietary and not part of actual email.

Yahoo offers free "secured delivery." Besides encrypting the message it also sends a verification email when your message is opened.

The recepiant has to register and that may be a bar to his going to the trouble of getting the message, but once he registers and opens your email you'll get an email saying he got it.

I've used the sevice several times to help me know messages have been read.
