IE6 Loading Glass appears briefly over an Image-Swap

What is the best way to get rid of this loading problem?

I believe one way is to preload the images via javascript, and another way is to do something really "hackish" by combining the rollover images into 1 image: http://weblogs.asp.net/pleloup/archi.../23/25064.aspx

What would be the best method of the two? Or better yet, what is the best method?

    Thanks!

    Hi,

All those techniques that rely on manipulating the background property will incur the ie hourglass. Even using the one image technique and changing the background-position incurs the ie hourglass.

The only method you can use is the following one that I devised and is the fastest rollover without flicker and without hourglass.

    http://www.pmob.co.uk/temp/cssrollover4.htm

However it involves having one image in the html and some people don't like that. If thats the case for you then you are stuck withe the hourglass flicking on and off (although sometimes its quite hard to see).

    Hope thats of some use.

    Paul
