    indentation in IE won't go away

    Hi,

    If you put a paragraph (p) or blockquote (blockquote) tag, with a floating image in it, like the following

    Code:
     <blockquote><img src="./img.jpg" class="right" />
     Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text. Some text.
     </blockquote>
    with this CSS

    Code:
     img.right {
      float: right;
      margin: 5px 0 5px 20px;}

     blockquote {
      text-align: justify;
      font-style: italic;
      text-indent: 0;
      width: 85%;}
    the first line of the text is indented in Internet Explorer 6, but not in Mozilla.

    Is this a known problem? Putting text-indent to 0 explicitly, doesn't seem to do the trick :-(

    All help greatly appreciated!

    All the best,
    Tim

    You should put all of the images and text that you want in the blockquote inside of a paragraph and then style that paragraph.

    HTML Code:
    <blockquote>
      <p>
       Yay!
      </p>
    </blockquote>

    They looked the same to me - both indented as expected for a blockquote. If you set margin to zero the whole block looses its indent altogether

    Hi guys,

    Thanks for the help!

    I've tried it and I've tried using just a paragraph tag with a seperate class. It didn't make any difference.

    After reading this, I tried again with a small part of my code and now they look the same to me too, but both *without* indentation.

    This problem reminds me of another problem I had a while ago in IE. When I used the :first-letter pseudo-element to capitalize the text in the menu, the styling of the menu was totally different. Never found a solution, apart from dropping the :first-letter.

    Will probably have to start on a new witch-hunt...

    Cheers,
    Tim
