About having more than 2 Adsense ads on a page!

    Hi,

As I am with Adsense and I don't want to break their TOS, I was wondering if that when ever you use 2 or 3 Adsense ad units on one page, then will you be able to use something like Clicksor or Adhearus for your Alternative ads instead of the Adsense PSA's.

The reasons why I ask this is because you can't have a similar ad from a competing company on the same page as an Adsense ad. But I find that sometimes you get one Adsense ad and the other Adsense ad unit will then show your Alternative ad, which would then be Clicksor or Adhearus.

So is using Clicksor or Adhearus instead of your Adsense PSA's alright if you have more than 1 Adsense ad unit on a page of your site?

Why not email AdSense and ask?

    I've received reply from Adsense!!!

The reply that I have just received from Adsense is shown as follows:

    _____________________________________________________

    Hello Jonathon,

Thank you for your interest in upholding AdSense program policies and
    Terms and Conditions.

AdSense publishers may place up to three ad units on one web page. Our
system will detect the multiple ad units and will display unique ads to
each ad unit. This system is optimized for pages with highly targeted
Google ads - some pages may not show ads in the second or third ad unit.
In this case, the ad unit will show as a transparent box, or will contain
any alternate ad or color specified in the ad code.

Please note that AdSense program policies do not permit Google ads to be
published on web pages that also contain what could be considered
competing ads. This would include all contextual ads, including Adhearus
    and Clicksor ads.

We appreciate your understanding. Please feel free to reply to this email
if you have additional questions or concerns.

    Sincerely,

    Molly
    The Google Team

Does anybody know exactly what the answer is. I don't quite understand their reply as they mention that alternative ads will show up sometimes and then they say that you can use competing ads on the same page as Adsense including Clicksor and Adhearus.

I read it as they do not permit competing contextual ads on the same page as Google ads which includes Adhearus and Clicksor.

In other words make sure you don't have contextual ads selected on your other ad networks if you are going to use them as a Google default with another Google ad placed on your page.

It means you can't use the other contextual advertisers as a default if you're using multiple adsense on the same page. If one of the spot shows adsense and the other does not and then defaults to Clicksor or Adhearus, then you would be showing both Adsense and one of its competitors on the same page, thus breaking the Adsense TOS.

That's the way I interpret the Google response.

    I second that interpretation.

Thanks for all of your replies. I now understand what they meant as I re-read the email and also took note of all your comments. Due to this is have now quickly taken all the other ads of my site that were used to replace the PSA's of Adsense.

Instead of these Ads, I am using the Adsense collapsible ad units instead for the time being untill I sort something else out.

I may even just keep to these actually, lets just see how things go.
