    netscape and padding

    hi i am a newbee and i have a web site made out of halo template in dreamweaver mx 2004, the site looks nice in ie6, but in net scape the top nav bar displayes without the padding of glink. also same in mozilla seems like it happens only in arabic using the unicode, if i use english words for the top nav bar it displays correct in both ie6,netscape and mozilla. i tried different forums to o avail, please help.
    the web site :
    www.daralhadith.com
    css code:
    #globalLink{
    position: absolute;
    top: 6px;
    height: 22px;
    min-width: 640px;
    margin: 0px;
    z-index: 100;
    text-align: right;
    right: 10px;
    padding: 0px;
    }

    a.glink, a.glink:visited{
    font-size: small;
    color: #000000;
    font-weight: bold;
    margin: 0px;
    padding: 2px 5px 4px 5px;
    border-left: 1px solid #8FB8BC;
    }

    a.glink:hover{
    background-image: url("glblnav_selected.gif");
    text-decoration: none;
    }

    .skipLinks {display: none;}
    html code:
    <div id="globalLink">
    <a href="#" id="gl1" class="glink" onmouseover="ehandler(event,menuitem1);">القضاء الربّاني</a><a href="#" id="gl2" class="glink" onmouseover="ehandler(event,menuitem2);">القصر الشريف</a><a href="#" id="gl3" class="glink" onmouseover="ehandler(event,menuitem3);">المعرفة الحقيقيّة</a><a href="#" id="gl4" class="glink" onmouseover="ehandler(event,menuitem4);">الدرر اللؤلؤيّة</a><a href="#" id="gl5" class="glink" onmouseover="ehandler(event,menuitem5);">حياة الشيخ محمود</a><a href="#" id="gl6" class="glink" onmouseover="ehandler(event,menuitem6);">قرّة العيون</a><a href="#" id="gl7" class="glink" onmouseover="ehandler(event,menuitem7);">الموافقات</a>
    </div>
    <!--end globalLinks-->

    Try adding a float to the glink and see if the padding takes effect.

    Code:
    a.glink, a.glink:visited{
       font-size: small;
       color: #000000;
     font-weight: bold;
     margin: 0px;
     padding: 2px 5px 4px 5px;
     border-left: 1px solid #8FB8BC;
    float:right;
    }
    Floats should reaaly have a width but I think it should be ok in this situation. (However you should hide it from ie5 mac as mac definitely needs widths on floats (use the double backslash mac hiding hack).)

    Just put anything you want to hide from mac between the double comments as follows:

    Code:
    /* commented backslash mac hiding hack \*/
    #content  {color:red}
    #header {float:left}
    /* end hack */
    The styles in the middle will be hidden completely from ie5 mac. The top comments and bottom comments must remain exactly as in the example above.
