    Thanks,

The ISAPI module is much, much faster. The CGI is a bit easier to set up though, but that's hardly a reason not to go with the module unless you're very lazy and only setting up PHP for development work.

Will you be insatlling this with Apache. I say this because of course the ISAPI dll will do you no good unless you are using IIS which normally doesn't run on Win 98. I think Skunk meant the php4apache.dll. Yes it is more stable as CGI mode on Win 98 but I have used it as a module on Win98 after pulling my teeth out for 10 days trying to get it to work. If you do want to install it as apache module on win 98 I highly suggest looking at this file:

    http://shanx.com/php/install_win32.txt

It saved me on an oocasion or two.

I installed PHP as a module on Win98 after receiving some help from Freddy. It works great, although I would really like to get Apache to run transparently in the background.

Erich it is pretty hard to get things to run as a service on Win98. I would suggest making thwe old upgrade to Win2k and then its a snap to add apache as a serivce which will run in the background and no more nnoying dos window.
