    Hello,
    I recently moved my site to a co-located server runing Apache-AdvancedExtranetServer/1.3.12 (Linux-Mandrake/30mdk) mod_ssl/2.6.6 OpenSSL/0.9.5a PHP/4.0.2.

But I have a problem that for some reason the .htaccess files seems to not work on my site.
When I upload them to the directory they seem to upload fine, but then they are not listed in the directory list and the instructions do not work.
Does anyone have any idea of how to fix this?

    thanks
    Guillermo

    A coouple of things.

First chances are your ftp client is set to not show system files so you are probably not seeing them up there even when they are. To test this, try telneting in to the server and cd into the folder where you uploaded the file. Then issue an
    ls -al

If you see the file then it is fact there. Make sure to upload it in ascii mode as well.

Make sure that in your httpd.conf that you have

    AllowOverride all

    IN the directory configuration
