    need help with my CD-RW

Ive got a CD-Writer HP 9500 series. Now heres the thing, When I upgraded my Windows to XP Pro I had some driver issues with my CD-RW and later got them fixed. However after using Roxio software for writing, the device became very unstable and few days back, Ive put this CD in which got stuck. What sucks more is that the whole device does not respond when I turn on my computer.

What I am sure is that though the data cables and the power supply are connected to the CD drive and, so is my computer to the socket

I dont have much knowledge on hardwares and so im drowning here! help!
    Thanks,
    Miz

    Double check all cable conections.
Check in your Bios to make sure it's being recognized.
Make sure drivers are the latest version.

These are just a few things I came up with based on the information you provided. If all the things mentioned are in order, you may just have a dead writer.
    Hope that helps.
