I have noticed that when using browsers such as Firefox, a logo of the visited site appears in the URL field. Is this something that can be coded in and if so any ideas how its done ?

This is called a "favicon" (short for Favorites Icon, since it shows up in your Favorites folder as well as the address bar). It is basically a 16x16 pixel .ico file that sits in the root directory of your website.
Adding one to a website is really simple... here's a tutorial: http://www.axialis.com/tutorials/tutorial-iw004.html
Keep in mind, you will need a special type of graphics software that allows you to create .ico (icon) files -- simply saving a .gif or .jpeg as an .ico will not work.
Try typing "icon creation tool" into Google and you should easily be able to find what you need.Danielion

Thanks for that, I'll see if I can have a go at doing one now.
