I am currently in need of a free message board for my site.

I found many downloadable free versions on search engines , but there are no detailed instructions on how to set them up. I am a complete newbie in this.

Can anyone point me to a site where I can download as well as follow step by step instructions to correctly set up a message board on my webpage?

I promise that if it works, I will give you the URL!

As I said, I am a newbie and I need very specific step by step instructions. With what I currently have, I could not do anything.

    Hey TiTin,

checkout this, might be what you're looking for:

    http://www.discusware.com/discus/

It comes with detailed instructions and I managed to get it up and running and I'm a bit dim.

    I found it at: http://www.cgi-resources.com/

    Good luck

I suggest you go with ikonboard at www.ikonboard.com

I'm not sure what kind of documentation is available but i'm sure members here can help you set it up.

If you want a free forum that is as much as possible like this one, then probably Ikonboard is the way to go, but for documentation I agree with macdan. I have never seen such good step by step documentation for anything at all, as for Discus. They don't take it for granted that you know anything at all, and they have a utility that finds all your paths, etc. for you. I was feeling the same way about installing a forum, but Discus installed perfectly without a single error along the way.

Administration is easy, with lots of help files, too. And a keyword search at their web site will turn up answers to almost any questions you have left. And then there's a very helpful support forum.
If you check it out, don't go by the looks of the Discus web site or even their own forums. They're much bigger on function than form. Look at some of the user examples to see some of the ways Discus can look.
