I am trying to install this on my web site, but I am having trouble.

Has anyone installed this on their website? I need to know what
chmod a+w config.php is when you use an FTP program.

What I mean is: what are the Read, Writeable and Exectuable commands (using the FTP client) to make the above.

I am very new to PHP and figured I would try this forum out, since I heard
    good things about it here.

Please post as soon as possible. I'd like to get it installed tonight, if possible, because my host will be down tomorrow, which means my site will also be down.

    I'm using phpBB....

while i administer my own server I believe you can execute such commands with cuteftp by right-clicking on the file and changing permissions remotely...

    c+w makes it writeable ... and c-w read-only...

one problem, I don't use Cute_FTP, I use WS_FTP LE. I did figure the problem out, but then after getting it right, I had other problems.

Is there an easier message board to install, or could someone help me install this script?
The install instructions for phpBB were a little hard to understand since they didn't have
    enough details.

I guess I have to delete everything and try again. Should I upload all the files first and then try the install instructions again?

*Update* I got it installed! The only things I don't like is that you can't change the background color and you can't make it look more like your site design.

Why don't you got ahead and start over.. It really isn't that hard to configure once you've copied the files on the server... what OS are you on right now?

    Got it to work

I finally got it to work. Wish I could change that dark background. Now on to script #2-a trivia script to make a quiz for my site. Wish me luck!

I don't know if I'll use the forum or not, but here's the link www.jediliz.net/phpBB/index.php

What OS? You mean for my host? Its a UNIX.

    clueless,

The background color can be changed in the edit themes section of the administration panel.
