    Hi,
I received a weekly site review from a host and was wondering how to interpret the following:

    Total hits: 7875
    304's: 1652
    Redirects: 4
    Server Errors: 1
    Number of unique URL's: 338
    Total unique hosts: 1086
    Total kilobytes transferred: 66392
Total kilobytes saved by cache: 11922

My first question is What is a 304? I know it's some kind of error message, but what kind? And do I want to do something to the site to reduce them?

Second question is What about the Server errors?

Third question, How do I interpret Total Kilobytes transferred, and Total kilobytes saved by cache? I know that was two questions!

    Any input would be great!

    Thanks.

Here is a link about HTTP error code: http://help.netscape.com/kb/corporate/19960515-20.html

    2. The stat report doesn't say enough to know what exactly the server error was. however, it was only one, so...

    3. KB Transferred and KB saved, the more you save, the better (client's browser cached the page and the server doesn't have to deliver the page again)

    Thanks for your reply, Son.

Regarding that 304 message, I followed that link you gave me and the 304 is listed as an error:

304: Use local copy. The requested document will be retrieved from the client's cache.

I guess I don't understand why it is considered an error if a document is being retrieved from the client's cache.

    Total hits: 7875
    304's: 1652

How do I interpret the numbers from my host?
What I mean is, is this good? bad? doesn't matter??

The 304 description seems to be positive, however, I've never encountered that many 304's or maybe and I didn't care.
So I think that's how you got the kbyte saved by client's cache.
