    It's a 19" TFT ViewSonic VX910. I've heard great things about it but I'm wondering how it'll cope with my web dev stuff. I mean it has a native res of 1280 x 1024 so will I be able to resize the res to see what sites look like at "user standard" sizes like 800x600 or 1024x768 or will I just use the resize window tool that comes with the Web Dev toolbar for Firefox?
    The resize window tool works just fine. You're not going to see anything wildly different from what your users at those resolutions see unless your browser is tricked out with a million sidebars and extensions. Or just use these bits of Javascript in the address bar (remember that vBulletin screws up the word "javascript" in these examples, so remove the underscores):
    Code:
    javascript:window.resizeTo(800,600);

    javascript:window.resizeTo(1024,768);

    //etc. etc.

    I have the Viewsonic A90f+ and it is a great monitor. Yours simply looks like the new yearly model. Have fun with it.

    I leave mine in "Ultrabright" mode all the time though, not just for games.

    Ok, having read through the responses (cant thank enough for the discussion) ive decided to go for a 17" TFT . Taking into account the budget, workspace on my desk, the experience with my CFT(not great) etc, it seems like the best way to go .

    oh and LOL @ the 30 inch apple monitor.

    Looks longingly (literally) at http://www.apple.com/displays/

    Mmm, colour calibration.

    Interesting to read about colour-loss on TFTs. A bar of light green doesn't show up on one of my sites when viewed with a laptop. Sometimes TFTs can make colours look a little washed out, I suppose they are a little like "movie" setting on a television.
