run a search under the buttons at the top of the sitepoint site for this topic - you'll find reams of info and suggestions.
Ballpark estimates will run from $50-5000. It really depends too much on what is required: do you have to design the layout yourself or is he providing it? Do you have to design the logos/artwork? Whos provides the ad copy for the frontpage/door? Do you have to write it also? Photos? Icons? How many links and how difficult to lay 'em out? In flash, , javascript, shtml, xml, or straight html?
Too many variables to give a good estimate!!!
