Does anyone know about the overheads associated with php?

Currently our site is built using php extensively (especially the front page which runs a number of SQL queries to display dynamic data amongst other things).

Our graphics already cause the page to load slowly, and I was wondering if the slow speed of the page was due just because of the graphics, or also because of php...?

    Anyone have any ideas? Solutions?

    Thanks.

There are many thing that could affect your loadtime, and could be the PHP script, depends on how it's programmed (efficiency)
Other than that, web host (connection, load average) is another important factor

But if the script is efficient, PHP is very fast, I don't think within a simple page surfer can notice any lag due to PHP.

Hmm I see...okay I was just worried about the php bit. Its coded fairly "decently" I guess - by most standards!

Thanks again - will look into toher things that may be effecting the load time.
