I used to drink a lot more liquor than beer, but that's reversed over the past year.

In the pub I usually drink bottles of Archers Aqua, but my favourite drink is Amarula on ice, closely followed by Baileys on ice.

Local Brews if they've got 'em. Whatever is on tap, preferrably Fosters, Sam Adams or Killian's Red. No Budweiser, though. Yuck...

For liqour, Cosmopolitans, a nice stout Adios (Long Island Ice Tea w/Blue Curacao instead of Coke), White Russians, etc.

Pub drinks are not healthy (dirty galsses) . It is best to drink at home. Champagne & wine. Among beers, german ones taste better.

Never go to the pub/bar. Too expensive. I can't see paying $4.00 for this watered down garbage that people call beer here in the United States. Simply a waste of my money and time.

For the price of a couple evenings out a month, I can maintain a fully stocked bar at home with a greater variety of alcohol and better beer (pretty much anything over 8% alcohol). I don't have to worry about the bartender watering things down even more either with cheap ice or seltzer to make profit margins increase.

My favorite drinks however include homebrewed beer, homebrewed mead, fine wines, Jack Daniels, Rum and Coke, Grand Marnier and a few others. Sam Adam's Triple Bock is a mighty fine brew as well.

Guinness. Everytime. Used to loathe the "cold" variety, but now don't mind it at all. Sometimes try the local ales if there's a new one on tap.

How sad. The pub isn't just about the drink. I don't go to the pub to drink. I go to the pub to have a drink with my mates. There are crap student bars around who serve cheap beer which tastes like crap, but my local serves proper beer. Sitting in the pub is "a waste of time?". Blasphemous.

I can always invite my friends over to my home to hang out. And often do or my wife and I go to their homes and do the same.

Maybe if we had true pubs here then it wouldn't be so bad and be worth a trip. The majority are night clubs and sports bars which are rowdy and noisy and I have no interest in either dating (married) or sports. The others are simply restaraunt bars with no real aesthetic.

I gave up drinking bitter (that's a form of beer that is sometimes served non-chilled) when I discovered it was causing chafing (I won't go in to the details, this is a family forum ). I went through a phase of drinking tequila sunrise, which gave me a nice linear-drunk-experience (I find beer has a rather random effect on me) but found that eventually you just can't take any more orange juice. I had a Canadian Club and coke phase, and that resulted in me being sick, so I haven't had any more. I stopped drinking port when I found it gave me a headache. One of my friends turned me on to spicy bloody marys, but there is a problem with the alcohol/fluid ratio, and unless you've got a good cocktail waiter/waitress the amount of actual spice can vary dramatically. I'm a bit like Marge from the Simpsons with my long island iced tea, but ultimately the taste becomes a bit samey. Finally I've found expensive Bordeaux wines from Pomerol to be the best solution because it costs so much you can't afford to buy very many bottles.

In case you were wondering, this was all in one evening.

This morning, getting back from the pub, we spent 3 hours picking up neighborhood rubbish - plus visited an elderly home and wished everyone a great new year. Any body else do this sort of thing, or are we just weird?:_

Bars/clubs in the US are boring as hell.

I think the US equivalent of pubs are probably golf courses.
