To SVG or not to SVG?

Is support for SVG built in to all new browsers? From what version? would you use SVG when building a site?

I have been messing around with a few few pieces of work in Corel and loading them into IE5.5 and the result is damned impresive! quite small file size and great visualy. I was just wondering what the rest of you thinK.

the web organizations are trying to put forward SVG as the web standard for vector-based files such as Flash.

They are wanting to get SVG to the point where it is almost a tex file with a series of commands (for lack of a better word). Basically nothing but math, interpreted by the browser into images.

SVG is an XML language, so future browser support should be adequate (IE6 and Mozilla).
But for now, currently the only way for SVG to work is via a plugin by Adobe, which also makes it work in NS4 and IE5. Mozilla currently has partial SVG support too, with full support coming around soon (hopefully ).

Hey,

I'd assume it would be animatable. Remember, you're feeding it commands, so I assume you could do something like (this is obviously not appropriate SVG syntax):

drawCircle("center:5,3";"radius:3.214");
setTimeout('drawCircle("center:5,2";"radius:2.214")',200);
