    Unhappy My layout is not align... it shifts to the left.

    I am almost done creating my Mambo CMS template converted from my static layout. I was here before asking help about my layout which was a 3-column css layout. I accomplished it there and here, but now my wrapper shifts to the left, and its not aligned.

    Can someone tell me whats wrong? Paul?

    Here is my old static site and how below is supposed to look: www.stratcommandcenter.com

    And here is my mambo site: www.stratcommandcenter.com/cms/

    OH, and IMPORTANT, it works with Firefox and Netscape but not IE. Why not?

    I will post the code in the following posts.
    Strategic Command Center

    Hi,

    If you are just talking about the centering of the site then its because you have put great big margins on the outer when it should be just margin:auto;
    Code:
    #wrapper {
    background-color: #ffffff;
    padding: 0px;
    width: 740px;
    margin: 0px auto;
    text-align: left;
    /*margin-right: 530px;
    margin-left: 530px;don need these */
    min-height:100%;
    background-image: url(images/centeredbg.jpg);
    background-repeat: repeat-y;
    background-position: center top;
    }

    Well it does make a difference but the problem is that you are using the xml prologue which forces quirks mode in ie6 therefore margin:auto doesn't take effect.

    You need to also add text-align:center to a parent element such as the body to satisfy ie5 and ie5.5. and ie6 in quirks mode.

    Code:
    body {text-align:center}

    also, another question, how come in ie the navigation headings on the right navigation bar ignore the margin I put for them to align with the pillar? Also, how come the "Search" takes another line break when I only have one... in firefox its fine?

    EDIT: These are minor but important little factors I would like to fix...

    Hi,

    To reduce the space between the text and the searchbox you need to control the default form margins.

    e.g.
    Code:
    .search form {margin:0;padding:0}
    The margins seem to be in effect on the rigth side you just haven't specified enough the clear the pillar.

    Code:
    .search {
     margin-left:24px;
     }
    .searchHead {
     font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", Times, serif;
     font-size: 11pt;
     font-weight: bold;
     color: #000000;
     text-align: left;
     text-decoration: underline;
     margin-left:24px;
     }
    You have a numbers of missing or unclosed table components in that right column so make sure you tidy them up.

    no, I dont think its fixing it... and its not just the search, but all the titles are placed ontop of the pillar.

    Oh well...

    .search form {margin:0;padding:0}
    The above code was to reduce the space between the search text and the search field below it so that ie looks the same as mozilla.

    For the margins I think you just need to check through and set them accordingly. I noticed some of your tables in the right column are centred so obviously text in these tables will be centred and margins will not apply as you think.

    Looking at the page online it doesn't look as though its much out anyway.
