    Setting height of div

I have two divs.. one floats on the left.

Now usually left div is just 300 in height .. but right content runs into many page. the left div has a bg color which is different from the body bg.

I tried setting 100% height.. but it was just relatively setting up 100% hieght to the screen resolution I guess,

    How do i tackle this?

If it's a fixed site, imitate the different column colours by running a background image tile down the div wrapping the columns.

I'm not quite understanding your question, but I think I know what you're looking for. Please post your code or give a link.

As Egor says the simplest way to achieve a full column effect is with a repetaing background image down the left side of the body.

If you want it without images then you will have to do something like this:

Have a look at the 3 col demo sticky thread for more examples and also at the FAQ sticky thread to understandn 100% height.
