javascript has a mind of its own

I am writing a huge java servlet using html. I have 4 or 5 javascript popups opening static pages of instructions in various places depending on which image is clicked.

My problem (one of them), is that if the user clicks the enter button, instead of the submit button, one of the popups pops up. It is always the same popup, which happens to be the first one in the particular <form> , requiring another authentication. After logging in, the <form> posts behind the popup.

None of the other popups are affected, including the one in the header, which is a separate function.

    Any ideas..?

I don't claim to be a JavaScript expert but without seeing a URL or posting some code I could really only guess.

Sounds like a question more suited to the javascript forum .

As Ryan said you probably won't get a proper answer unless you provide some code or a link.
