    how do you get say a textarea hover backgroudn change to work in ie?

    You can't do it with css as ie only applies the hover to anchors. Moz is probably ok although I haven't tried it.

    You'd need to script it for ie.

    Something like this I assume (but you better check with someone who knows js first .
