Do you like your cat? Have her cloned!

    http://savingsandclone.com/

For US$ 53000 you can have your cat cloned. I cannot decide what I feel about this, but I'm leaning toward "really, really cool".

edit: Oh, and it seems very, very real. They are featured in a huge amount of news, and the pictures are cutsie-wootsie.

The thing is, you're cat will never grow up the same. Nurture has just as much effect on a cats personality as nature

I do however think this is pretty sick

Personally, I can't help but wonder whether a clone of my cat, who is severely disabled due to some nasty orthopedic problems, would suffer from the same disability. The vet says it's genetic, so I wouldn't be too surprised.

That said, I do not support any kind of cloning beyond therapeutic cloning on the tissue level.

Clones appear to have serious health problems. The sheep, Dolly or what was her name, didn't live for too long, right?

oh, I don't care about that. I just want two identical looking cats. Like those twins in the matrix, but cats, because cats are slightly preferable to albino twins that shoot at you.

I don't take cloning that seriously, really. Never been able to see what the fuss is about. It's just kind of a delayed twin.

As I've understood it, technology has made siginificant progress since Dolly. The company in question says that CC, the cat they cloned 2 years ago is very healthy, and that the current cats are in great condition.

I've heard reports of it on the news here and there. I think the name is pure genius.

What's up with you and cats, Mattias? How many fuzzy cat pictures do you have on your hard drive anyway?

Yes... Re-Pet (in the 6th Day)

Cloning's not such a big deal -- unless it actually happened the way it did in the 6th Day, or other sci-fi movies, in which the clone was somehow artificially aged and given the same knowledge as the original. But that's not what it's really like (at least not for a while.)
