Question Free email accounts (yahoo, etc.) not accepted, why?

Newbie alert. I have noticed that a number of sites with list servs, forums, or bulletin boards do not accept/register free email accounts, such as yahoo and hotmail. Is there a security or logical reason for this?

    Thanks.

I think these kind of email address bounce so forums don't like to get baounced emails... Also some forums are only for WMs so they want WM's Site email account instead of free email address...

Depends on the business.. There is a higher chance of fraud if you accept free email accounts because there is no accountability. Anyone can create throwaway emails with them, purchase stuff with those emails (especially downloadable software) and then throw them away. Combine this with credit card fraud and there is no way to track the transaction.
