    Hi everyone

What is the license issue when using MySQL on a Windows NT web server?

Im confused with the wording on the MySQL web site. It appears that its free as long as its not being used on a commercial product, that is a product that must be purchased.

Can someone clarify this for me please.

    Thanks

The old license required payment before mySQL could be used commercially on a windows platform. This license has now been changed and made properly "Open Source". I think there is a stipulation saying that you can't release your own commercial product that includes mySQL without paying a license fee, but this only applies if you (for example) create an all-in-one web server with built in (mySQL) database and start selling it to people.

    That's as I understand it - I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong....
