Using 1 or various CSS files, is there a difference?

I am wondering, if using several CSS files, for instance one for tabs, another for positioning, another for fonts, will affect loading speed. And does it have any special advantage?

I have allways used one CSS file to deffine everything.

i don't know about the loading speed.. CSS are very small files because they are text so it should not affect it great deal! if not at all.

I personally preffer using just one.. I separe the content with comments so i know what every chunk of code is for. As for having several files. It means that you have to take care, upload, download, and link every code seperatly and that doesn't make your life easier!

What if you forget to upload changes for one of your 5 files? your page would be hell!

I honestly believe it is best to keep it simple and clean.

Yeah, I agree roloenusa. I also separate the content with comments, just seems easyer.
