    Question works in ie, not netscape

    I have a ton of textareas in a page I'm writing in java/html, and have to make it compatible with all browsers. The problem I have is with textareas. In IE, the textarea box will automatically bring up a scrollbar if needed. Netscape will not, so you can't type in a field any bigger than is showing. What is the tag that Netscape is looking for? I tried style=overflow, but that doesn't work either. This is such a simple thing, but it's driving me nuts! Please help!

    This is what I have:
    <textarea name=education cols=60 rows=6 wrap=soft>

    Can you show us the whole page? And confirm what version of Netscape you're talking about?

    In any case, you should quote the attributes in your html:
    Code:
    <textarea name="education" cols="60" rows="6" wrap="soft">

    The stylesheet is long, so I didn't include it. I just cut and pasted the first couple textareas...Any ideas? I'm testing with Netscape 7.0, but probably will have to go back as far as possible ( think 4.7 is the oldest)

    When I cutting and paste bits of your code into a test page, Mozilla Firefox (which uses a newer, bug-fixed, version of the same rendering engine as NN7) is working fine for me.

    Can you provide a link to the site?
    I'm testing with Netscape 7.0, but probably will have to go back as far as possible ( think 4.7 is the oldest)
    Of actual Netscape users, NN7 is far and away the most widely used. NN4.x is trailing way behind.

    NN6/7 use a completely different rendering engine to NN4.x, and supporting 4.x is likely to give you a major headache.

    I can't give you a link to check because it is on a secure server.

    For what it's worth, Netscape released version 7.2 a few days ago. It's based on Mozilla 1.7.

    Also, you can download all previous versions of Netscape here:
