On Database Used By Two Web Sites?

    Hello Everyone,

I am about to try out my first database driven website. I read Kevin Yanks book on the subject.

I have a question that I was wondering if anyone could answer for me.

I am building two web sites. They will be hosted on the same virtual hosting server.... on the same machine / server.

I was wondering if it is possible to set up one MySQL database on the server and then access it from either one of my websites to produce dynamic pages?

I know this might be a pretty basic question but I am a rookie at this and want to make sure.

What issues should I be concerned with or plan for?

Basically what is going on is I have a sports collectibles site that will display all of the sports collectibles I have........ jerseys, photos, sports cards, hats, bats, gloves, etc....

For the second site I only want to display my sports cards collection.... all the data would already be in the database for the first site....

hence the reason for my question.

Thanks for your time and help.

    Sincerely,
    Eric B

Sure you can use the same database on more than one site. It really only makes sense to do so if the data is somehow related, which in this case it may be.
