This is absolutely shocking news, and has created many heated discussions over at GetHigh(Traffic)Forums and Geek/Talk. In fact, Geek/Talkers have been banned from talking about the issue because things were getting so hot.

It's always saddening to see how little respect some agencies give to their publishers - especially when those publishers are amongst the best in the biz.

Anyone who ever considered selling out to eFront, or joining their advertising program should definitely read the above news article.

    Yeah,

It's pretty sad. I mean, you're doing business not screwing honest hard working webmasters.

People like me go and buy fully loaded bmw's and hope that the insurance bills will be covered by the website and then I hear about my site being kicked off or whatever.. not nice, and I don't think eFront is going to last that long with all its executive's gone?!?!

    Take care all..

Well, yeah - but I have to say it was not a very smart thing to sign the contracts eFront offered really - with the lion share of the purchase amount in stock one could, even at that time, figure out the internet stocks would dive. And eFront has never gone public so there has been no way whatsoever to even cash in *some* of the money.

I spoke to some eFront webmasters earlier today, most of them plan on giving up their sites/trying to get eFront off their backs as much as possible. I don't think anyone is planning class actions right now ...

    Just some additional infos

    Have a great day,

    Mike

This really puts a dent into eFront's image and will really hurt their chances to survive this dot-com crisis. Actually, the News.com article was posted long after other, smaller tech sites all over the web posted links to those juicy ICQ logs - that's where I heard about/read this first. Ouch, it would really stink to have my private conversations floating around the web.

SomethingAwful.com was one of the first to post them, you might still be able to find them there.

SomethingAwful was forced to remove the logs, as well as ordered to close their forum as a result of the expose.

You can find direct links to the logs through some of the posts on GetHigh(Traffic)Forums, I believe.
