    Hey Guys,

I've gotten myself roped into doing a web site for a guy that does Karaoke shows, and he wants to put his 7000+ song list on his web site, and wants to allow visitors to be able to view this list of music in catagories of "song", "by artist", and he wants them to be able to search his song list (I figured I could always use Atomz.com for the search engine, unless there's a better way)

My web space (where I will be hosting his site) does have CGI-bin access.....

Question-what's the best way to handle this request?

I'm learning web design, so now is a good time to learn how to deal with data bases.....

    Thanx,
    Rockrz

The URL to the tutorial mentioned is:

It is an excellent article if the host supports php/sql, certainly worth a read.

I have found that article very useful. It tells me what I need to know even about setting up the mySQL database on my server, which most articles would assume you already know.

It's good that even a very simple and short script can provide more functionality than a static website could ever have.

If your site Has ASP capabilities, let me know. I'd be glad to teach you all you need to know about beginning database access with ASP.

    Hope this helps!

Well, if it's a windows NT Server and has IIS 4 installed (i wouldn't recommend an earlier version), then it has ASP capabilities. They'll most likely tell you, but i wanted you to perhaps be able to skip the lousy tech support processes.
