Alright I know this is probably a stupid and yet easy question but I have no Ideal how to figure it out so here it goes....
I've just recently downloaded like 20 new fonts that I liked....Then I unziped them.....Now what do I do so that I'll be able to use them I click on the truetype icon and it shows me all the sizes and everything but when I go into a document program to type with that font it's not there!
One more question......Is there anyway I can just save these fonts to a disk and just use them off the disk when I need to so that I'll save space on my Hard drive?
I hope any if not all of you can help me!
Thanks,

1) go to the control panel
2) open the folder called fonts
3) drag the fonts into the folder
i don't know any way to use fonts that are on a separate disk, but fonts don't take up much space anyway, only a few KB...

What is the purpose of getting fonts? As I understand it unless you use these to create a gif/jpeg they will not be visible to people looking at your site unless they also have the font which is unlikely. Am I wrong?

The primary purpose is for graphics creation. My graphics program, Paint Shop Pro, allows me to use any fonts I have installed in my images when adding text - I have about 600 or so, over half of which I've downloaded and installed. Not many compared to some, but yes, they can be very useful.
I for one love "Arrobatherapy" - killer font.

yes. that is correct.
there are ways to make the user download the fonts, but it is not recommended.
most web developers use fonts for logos or graphics. for other reasons why people collect fonts... ask Sparkie
argh. TWT you are so fast.
what does that font look like anyway?Last edited by boredboi; Mar 12, 2001 at 10:31.

back when I first started designing I had a collection of over 1000 fonts.
It's just nice to have options. Although if you are going to have more than about 100, then I wholeheartedly recommend getting Adobe Type Manager. It is a godsend for managing fonts.Last edited by creole; Mar 12, 2001 at 12:36.
