    Generate a Quote for an Order

    anybody seen a good script for requesting quotes?

    the client is a party equipment rental place (tables, tents, chairs, etc) so they will have products but it just needs to send a total of items they'd like to rent.

    basically, some sort of simple, add-on shopping cart

    Creating one shouldn't be hard either. As you described, it is just a form, where the user selects products and quantities and then submits. Then the form processor multiplies quantity with products price. For instance you could have a small database containing the products list and the price for each of them. On processing you would grab the price for the product and multiply it with the amount of items in the quote request.

    You're right. It doesn't sound like it'd be too hard to code it myself.

    yeah, hotscripts and scriptdex are great script directories.

    Here is some pseudo code for the project

    Code:
    // When a user is looking at a product page we'll give them a little button to 'add to order'
    <form action="add_to_order.php" method="post">
    <input type="hidden" name="item" value="the_product_id_of_this_product">
    <input type="submit" value="Add To Order">
    </form>

    // On our add_to_order.php page we'll make use of sessions.

    $item = $_REQUEST['item'];

    # Add the item to the customers order array
    # which we'll store in a session variable

    // Give the user a checkout button on each page
    <a href="checkout.php">Checkout</a>

    // On checkout.php we just combine all products and
    // their prices.
