    Question Experience with Canaca.com?

Does anyone have positive or negative feedback on the hosting company Canaca.com ?

10000 MB storage and 80 GB transfer for $7.95 a month sounds fantastic, but I've gone through a few "fantastic" hosts with poor results before.

And what have you learned out of that?

BTW, do you really need 10gb space and 80gb transfer?

    10GB of space--no way. 80GB transfer--sadly, just about.

The website leads me to believe that it's not one dude running a company out of his parent's basement (no offense to basement business runners), but I suppose it's hard to be sure.

Wallpaper--I've tried also to have forums, but that seems to always push my bandwidth over the edge.

SenshiG, when it comes to hosts giving huge amounts of bandwidth for small prices be very careful not to use much in terms of resources (CPU and memory). The cheaper the host the more webistes are put on a server and the lower the "resources abuse" threshold.

Canaca may have moved to a shared backbone with Shaw Cable in Canada, and we know who comes in last?, Not Shaw...even web pages take alot of time to come up on broadband...AVOID THEM WITH YOUR WALLET unless you like slow speeds and interuppted downloads, then it will be ok..lol

One of our client had an account with Canaca(1GB+ i think) and we moved to another host. Reason: Downtime. More clearly, 1-2 in a week ranging 1 hour + for every session

We used it just for one month and changed. I hope they are, now, improved!

No , thay are about belly up...

When a company saves money by renting or sharing a T1 line or worse, its usually a sign of the end, Canaca just slowed down to 1/3-1/10 the speed it was before and no one will take them serious with those slow speeds, I wish I never tried saving money by going with them, ill just eat the money and move on.. Canaca has HUGE problem and they will only snowball ....Jim

I am a representative of Canaca. First let me reassure everyone that we are not on a shared backbone with Shaw. We are also definitely not sharing a T1 line. The resent problems are because the upgrade to our GigE line 1000mbps . We encountered some hardware problems that took some outside help to resolve. We believe that they have now been resolved and speeds should be back to normal.

Just a quick note: One would not be able to run over 400 servers on single T1. Here is link to some of the equipment located in our facility.

    Well look at this!

When we email Canaca we get "no problems found" or "it should be up now", and when we have it up to our necks with no explanations and post here, we get an explaination, well Canaca, you are down again with your new 1gig backbone my friend!! How does 99.99% uptime equate to this?....
