Can anybody point me to a message board where all the UK webmasters hang out/converse (presuming there is such a place)?

I don't think there is such a place, though there was a discussion not long ago of maybe launching one (Karl owns webmasterforums.co.uk I believe).

    Hi,

I live in the UK and I hang out here and a couple of other forums. The great thing about the Intertnet is that it breaks country divides so I like to hang out at multinational forums .

I'm also from the UK. I visit lots of forums and they are all multinational because I think it is beneficial to have an international viewpoint on things.
I don't know of any specifically geared towards UK residents at the moment - the best advice I can offer is to forget about nationalities and hang out here

There are a couple of UK computer forums with a Web Design section (e.g. Romulus 2 ) but I don't know of any specifically devoted to it.

heh, i'm not even going to start with the whole 'criminal' thing, that would be a cheap shot. anyway i just wanted to get an idea of what prices uk designers charge clients but maybe i'll have to start that thread off here some time when i'm feeling less of a lazy b***ard. thank you for all your wonderful replies

    Hi all,

Thought i'd make an appearance around this neck of the woods, not often I pop in here.

Yes, I own WebmasterForums.co.uk and it is on my list of projects to start - I just don't have the time (or the money for that matter to stick vBulletin up).

Now if people want to lend a hand (Moderators, graphics, contribution to vBulletin , promotion) it would be a different matter of course and I would be willing to turn it into reality.

If you are interested then please get in touch with me and let me know you are interested.

    thanks

Currently also UK - although would dearly love to join lynlimz in Singapore, one of my favourite countries.

I also like the fact that these forums are used by people worldwide - wouldn't want it any other way.

There much work for internet developers in Singapore limz??

Re:- pricing - Check out any Web magazine to get an idea, or take a project you have developed, pretend it's a new idea and look for quotes from internet dev/new media companies. - You may be surprised at just how much they charge..... -

    Hi TheOriginalH,

I've been to UK once, and my heart's still there.
Maybe we should swoop for a few weeks. =) LOL

haha..there is work everywhere. Especially the current internet boom, there will be much work for us web developers. Just a matter of finding them =)

It will be better to check the major international sources to have an idea of what they are charging and finally consult the advertisements on the pages of Internet Magazine. The advantage of this place is the international dimension, i mean asking for a question and getting hints from people in Israel, South America,Britain and Australia.

I 've seen some advertisements charging five hundred dollars but i will tell you there is nothing like a general pricing. You will never charge the same amount for a five page design and a sixteen page work. In some cases, if you are doing the writing, the photography the design, the production and testing?

Tell us your finding in the long run.

Thanks for your advice peeps. I'm going to take a look through the web magazines and maybe I'll do the getting quotes thing if that doesn't work out. I'm aware that people charge very different prices for web design (also depending on content, size etc.) but I was looking for a sort of average UK fee for a small company website, or as average as I can get. As soon as I get anywhere I'll be sure to post my findings on this forum. If anyone else wants to do the same, please go ahead and let us know what you find out.

Funny.. off topic here.. but I noticed 3 countries that are somewhat near and dear to me mentioned in this thread

Canadian here, from Singapore originally and right now living in Gibraltar and just got back from short time in the UK

So what forum would I sign on to??

I think thats why an international forum is useful to have because we all have the same problems as designers.

Hmm.. I seem to be babbling
