i heard that p2p happens to be the next in thing...
but what i don't understand is its advantages other than viral-like growth.

for example, what advantages does decentralisation bring?

sounds like an interesting thing, but i'm not too sure what it really is about.

Doesn't "p2p" mean Peer-2-Peer? The only advantage I can think of is lower prices.

Yes I thought it meant Peer-2-Peer also. Like the sharing of information or something.

Yeah, it does. So programs such as Gnutella and iMesh are "p2p programs." How does that relate to decentralization?

I think it will allow companies to not require people to come into work. By investing in software for their employees the companies would be able to offer a big plus of letting their workers work from home efficiently

P2P means the disposal of central servers, which means that you dont need a central server to handle anything. Such sites could work by utilizing client computers only which means that you cannot shut down the entire network. You would have to take each individual client down, which is nearly impossible if you have 1,000,000 users! Just my two cents.

den i realised its the communist version of the web....

seriously it has high chances of degenerating into black underground systems, since you basically can't control it

legal problems will arise like napster... and people will start to take and not give thru the network

juz a few random thoughts....

It very well will turn into a communistic black underground market. Its going to be impossible to control and will lead to the interaction between 2 parties in ways we cannot even ponder today!
