I tried with your script. But it shows only the true part even the address is not valid. It will useful for me if u send the email checking script. I need this to avoid sending mails to invalid emails and obviously avoiding the bounce back. Thank you.

hey, first of all thanks for the great code...
there's only one mistake...
// this email domain doesn't exist! bad dog! no biscuit!
the ' in doesn't must of course be escaped, otherwise u will get a T_STRING error ;-)

Beautiful Script. Works like a dream... I used to have my scripts make sure the email is vaild like firstname.lastname@example.org but I never knew PHP could look up domains and DNS's! This will add even more security to my site

The biggest issue i see with this is that not every domain has there MX records setup correctly... Specially those on shared hosting!

Most PHP Hardening recommendations tell you to disallow exec calls. It's probably best to do a dns check through an api from a whois service and return the results.

Splitting the email address on the @ would also fail for this valid email: "some quoted string with a @ in it"@domain.com

Beware that you should check the input before using it in an exec-function to prevent command injection to occur!
