I am wishing to dump my database so I may backit up.

It asks me to dump it to a file then prompts me for a path. Is this the path to my computer or my ftp. If it is ftp what kind of path does it want. I just want to be able to download it and save it.

    Thanks

I think you are using MyPhpAdmin, correct? If so then, the file path it is asking for is on your hard disk. Instead, just do a dump, without saving anywhere. Then it will display the stuff to you in a new page. Copy everything, and then paste it some file on your computer.
    i dunno...

No I actually think I am using MysqlMan from Gossamer-Threads. It is the path for my ftp I figured out, but when I tru and copy it says it can't copy to path..wrong permissions or something. Do I hav eto chmod the directory or something.

Yes, to have a script write to a dir, you need to chmod it (707 for example)
I'd suggest using telnet to dump it, that way, you don't have to chmod or anything, and also more reliable as I saw many people having problem with phpMyAdmin (I don't think MysqlMan can do any better!)

How would I dump it via Telnet? I want to dump it to
    /usr/home/www/

That is all then I can download it.

    mysqldump --opt --user=user --password=pwd db-name> /usr/home/www/backup.sql
or just go to the directory you want to dump, put the filename w/o the path:
    mysqldump --opt --user=user --password=pwd db-name>backup.sql
