    Formula One starts this weekend.

I am just wondering how many people follow it here on SP, and also what your opinions are.

Seems like Ferrari have the fastest cars. In the training on Friday Rubens Barichello drove the fastest time, before Jarno Trulli and Michael Schumacher, who had a heavy accident during the training. 4th and 5th were the McLarens.

Ferrari will win it again. Jordan will come 3rd but will be close to McLaren who will finish second. Williams will come 4th, Beneton will improve greatly. Arrows will be the shock of the season and will finish 5th.

It'll be interesting to come back to this thread once the season is over.

If any of you here actually follow F! then you should know by now that you can NEVER assume that anyone is going to win. F1 is nothing but unpredicatable. Things happen which are never expected. I support McLaren but anyone who knows me knows i NEVER get into debates against other team fans because my first love is for the sport and even though I want McLaren to win first and foremost I want a clean, honest and safe championship. I was there when Schumacher had the accident that spoilt his first Ferrari World Championship and it wasn't a nice feeling! He crashed right on front of me.

Indeed. I was thinking three minutes ago about to go sleeping for 2 hours and wake up to watch it. It starts 4:30 and it's 1:33 already

Ok guys it is starting NOW! I have my McLaren gear out in force! Flag and all. BTW I went into town today and bought the coolest print, it is a limited edition signed by the artist. It is of Spa last year and it shows that fabolous overtaking move the Mika made on Schumacher!

    Go GO GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nicky, you are so right, as Murray would say IF is F1 backwards.

Well I've got mixed feelings.... Ferrari won the race (I've seen it live ) but unfortunately one marshal got killed during the accident Villeneuve had.

    Official results:
    1. M Schumacher (Ferrari)
    2. D Coulthard (McLaren-Mercedes)
    3. R Barrichello (Ferrari)
    4. N Heidfeld (Sauber-Ferrari)
    5. HH Frentzen (Jordan-Honda)
    6. K Raikonnen (Sauber-Ferrari)

(due to an appeal of Sauber, O Panis got a 25 sec penalty because he overtook Heidfeld under a yellow flag making him go back to 7th place.)

Villeneuve's accident was bad, especially since another marshall has lost their life. He must have hit that wall at 150-180mph.

Montoya and Raikonnen are something else, they are definately the Schumachers and Hakinens of the future.

I feel sorry for Frentzen, what with Barrichello helping him of the track and what not, if that hadn't of happened I think HHF could have been 3rd if not 2nd.

Come on. Look back at the times with Senna & Prost, people went to the race to see that happen.

Actually Frentzen did the same as Schumacher did in 1997 with Villeneuve. Only Barrichello was more behind than Villeneuve was, but basically it's the same.

So because it has been done before and because people want to see it that makes it right?

I hadnt heard that the marshall had died, its sad when that happens but they must know the risks. To tell you the truth i was suprised that villneuve walked out of the crash, whats more he seemed very calm when they interviewed him.

I think montoya is going to rein f1 in the near future. It might take a few years before he gets a *good* car to drive, but that kid has talent!

Does anyone know what caused hakinens crash? Suspension? Brakes?
