It's a search engine that place sites buy the user voteing on the sites (Design, if the content is good, etc... The content vote will be a large part like 60% of the mark well the design etc... will only make up 40% of the mark) So the sites that are actual good will be put first in the search engine. Also you can vote anon or you can get a username and password and track how many times you have vote the more times you have vote the more your vote counts for. I know there will be double voting issues etc... but this is just the base idea I want to know form you.

    1) It this a good idea?

    2)Can it be done?

    3)Would people vote?

This is definately possible. The problem would be getting the funding for a good server/connection and also getting a spyder or access to a current url datasource. I think it's an awesome idea and would offer to help with it, but the only DB programming I know is ASP, which I doubt is fast enough for a search engine.

That is sort of like Newgorunds voting system, the more you vote the more experience points you get, the more experience points you get the more your vote counts!

Thats an excellent idea. I would definitely use a search engine like that. It would be like mixing google and siteshots (I think thats the name of it) together.

I would use a search engine like that, but I wouldn't want to be the one to set it up...

ya it would be a hard thing to set up but it would be lots of fun maybe Or at least I could start of with a open source search engine and build on to it. Hey who knows what could happen.

Hey, that's a really cool idea! It probably won't be a spider, though, but more of a directory site. (Otherwise the voting thing is pointless.)

It would be quite hard to get started, though, and to to spread the word.

I can help you, if you want.
