I have Apache for win32 installed to serve pages from local host 127.0.0.1 using PHP and Mysql. MSIE 5.5 returns the error message "Connection Refused" when connecting to http://127.0.0.1/mysite2/index.html

Mysite2 is part of the directory path defined as an alias in httpd.conf

This is happening with a high speed cable connection. If I connect with dial-up, the page is served correctly. This works fine in Netscape 4.0 and Netscape 6

Any one know why this is happening?

I fixed it by using http://localhost/mysite2/index.html instead of http://127.0.0.1/mysite2/index.html . Does anyone know why this works? I thought localhost and 127.0.0.1 referred to the same thing.
