    You would need to remove "case 8: //backspace " from the switch statement, and let your other handling go to action.
    That would also involve slightly refactoring "textboxReplaceSelect()" method to not always expect a character as input to it.

    I'm going to need this case insensitive. Although I understand the code I am not a javascript programmer so don't know how to make this change :( any advice?
