    Hi there!

    The topic says it all!!

I need to implement a cascading menu into my form!

I would be very grateful if anybody could tell me the easiest way I could do this! I hear that I could do this using Java, DHTML and Fireworks 4..but I have absolutely no idea how to make them at all. I'm using a simple drop-down menus at the moment!

    Please help this newbie out!!

    Thank you very much....

    Koncise.

    http://www.dhtml.com
    http://www.bratta.com/dhtml/scripts.asp <--- Look for CoolMenus
    http://www.dynamicdrive.com

Cascading menus are far too hard to describe in terms of code here - so have a look at those sites and good luck.

    Thanx very much BC....

I did'nt expect to recieve any code in partcular, I just wanted some advice about how best I should go about implementing a cascading menu.

I understand that I could use either DHTML ir Java to make cascading menus, however I heard that there may be compatibility problems with certain browsers accessing pages containing DHTML. Therefore would it be safer for me to use Java to make the menu instead? Just to be safe...

Thanx for the links I'll check them out.

There are issues with both. You are correct in that DHTML has cross-browser compatibility problems, so you should either go for a well-established script or learn Dynamic HTML yourself However, the Bratta coolmenus and the DHTML.com menus already have the compatibility problems sorted out for you so there's one less worry.

Java can be used to implement cascading menus, but as I said in a previous thread (on a different topic) Java tends to slow the browser down, looks rather icky and has been known to crash certain browsers if the Java code is buggy. Thus Java should probably be avoided.

P.S. The link Lucas provided is precisely the same link as dhtml.com.
