    I have a table and user_id is on auto_increment.

it first field is 1 and then the next one it sets to 2147483647. how come this isin't 2?

    This is from phpmyadmin

    type Null Extra
    user_id int(10) No auto_increment

    any ideas?

the scirpt that creates this works fine on localhost just does this on the server mechine which is running mysql 3.23

I followed the backing up article on sitepoint and backed up my working copy on localhost and then put this onto the server yet the server one still doesn't work, which is a backup of the one on my localhost that does work.

localhost is running 3.22.34. is there some problem with the version the server is running?

    try this...

EMPTY your table... then use PHP to add something.. and let it count itself.. from one on. Don't enter anything for the auto-increment... let it do that automaticly. I had similiar problems.. and I had to DUMP my table, and reconstruct it.
